Chandrashila Summit Trek
Chandrashila Trek is one of the popular trek that can be undertaken round the year, in garhwal Himalayas except during heavy snowing months of December and January. Chandrashila summit is a rock face above the temple of Tungnath, the highest of all the temples in the Himalayas. It is a short but rigorous hike beyond the temple. The Chandrashila summit affords the most beautiful view of the Nandadevi, Trishul, Kedar Peak and Chaukhamba peaks.
Chandrashila Summit Trek Itinerary:
Day 01: Drive Rishikesh to Sari (8-9 Hours): Trek Sari to Deoriatal Lake (2300m) (1 hrs.appx) Morning drive from Rishikesh to syallsour. The drive is spectacular and along the Ganga, Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers.Enroute stop at Deoprayag, the historical town situated on the confluence of river Alaknanda & Bhagirathi River which makes the holy Ganges. Reach Syallsour village and from here trek to the most beautiful river bank of Mandakini vally. Forest and provides good view of the surrounding villages. Arrive and camp near the river. Rest of the day to explore the area around this beautiful vally. Meals and Overnight stay in Tentage.
Day 02: Chandrashila Summit Trek: Morning after breakfast drive to Ukhimath and can visit old tample lord shiva approx 5000 year old from here trek to the most beautiful Himalayan Lake Deoriatal. The trek is steep through the forest and provides good view of the surrounding villages. Explore the area around this beautiful lake. Rests for 01 hrs provide pack lunch and go down to sari village pick you by car it’s a gradual trek and the views are well worth the effort. We pass through the dense forest and beautiful alpine meadows dotted with flowers. Arrive Baniyakunth Copta and camp at outskirts. Meals and Overnight stay in Tentage.
Day 03: Trek Chopta to Chandrashilla (4000m) to Chopta Trek: 6-7hrs.: Wake up very early morning to reach the summit on time to see the panoramic view of the high Himalayan peaks. The trek is mostly gradual ascent through the dwarf rhododendron bushes. You can watch most of the prominent peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas from Chandrashilla Top. Nanda Devi (7817Mtrs-the second highest peak of Indian Himalayas), Kedarnath, Trishul, Banderpoonch etc are the prominent peaks visible from here. Day 04: Drive Chopta to Rishikesh: 8-9hrs.: Morning after breakfast board our waiting vehicle and drive back to Rishikesh. Tour terminates upon arrival in Rishikesh.
